What older women and I have in common?

The answer… We like to watch MacGyver. That’s right Richard Dean Anderson’s alter ego.
I am not quite sure why so many older women like MacGyver. I can’t say that I really care either. For a long time MacGyver has been one of my favorite shows. Since I couldn’t find it on television any more, I’m lucky to have a few seasons in my library.

Episode setup?

For those of you who don’t know, the episode style of the series is very unique. Each episode does in fact have its own story, but also follows a certain format.

In the beginning of the show we usually learn something about MacGyver’s past. Next something comes back to haunt him, or MacGyver just happens to find a slew of bad guys on his day off.

The next part of the episode is by far the best sequence in the show. MacGyver narrates while he builds some awesome elaborate tool. This is my favorite part because I love to know how things are put together and function. When the montage ends, MacGyver basically uses the tool or process he has just constructed.

What is there to learn from this man?

I think the moral of the overall show is simple- No matter how large the problem is you can always find a solution. Just make sure you have a roll of duct tape.
