Some of the Best Adventure Travel Destinations!

What did you do for your last vacation? Did you have a pleasant time? Did you have some entertainment? Was there some time to kick back and relax or did your last vacation consist of getting your family to and fro, with a little yard work and household chores thrown in? Was your last "vacation" actually a "staycation"? Why not go for something unusual this year? When you have a short time off, why not look into some of the various adventure travels that may be available in your backyard. If crossing the state line is not an option, there are probably many different adventures you can participate in. If you have the funds, why not spend a little on yourself and have a true adventure? Here are some of the adventure travels that have become incredibly popular.

If you get a thrill from being out in nature and using your survival skills to live off the land, why not participate in an Australian Walkabout? These have gotten increasingly popular since one of the main characters on the television show Lost tried to go on one. The original thought for an Australian Walkabout was for you and your fellow adventurers to get out into the Australian Outback on a guided tour. While you are on your walkabout, you live entirely off the land. You search for your own food, construct your own shelf from the items you can find outside and take on any "elements" that could come your way (weather, animals, etc). It can be described as extreme camping and can be very satisfying. Dude Ranches are good trips for the whole family. The Ponderosa Ranch in Nebraska is a working and vacation ranch. You can occupy the ranch’s guest cabins. During the day you act as a real working ranch hand. Guests ride horseback and help out by rounding up and driving the ranch’s cattle from one pasture location to another. During the evening, there are campfire stories, down home cooking and other wonderful activities to participate in. During your down time you can do any number of things including hunting, fishing, hiking and horseback riding. This can be a fantastic family vacation because they welcome people from every age group and skill level.

Go for a Llama Trek! Anybody can ride a horse. If you want some wacky adventure travels without leaving the US, you can opt for the Hurricane Creek Llama Treks in Oregon. During the llama treks you camp out and are responsible for bringing your own gear, setting it up, taking it down, packing your llama bags and unpacking your llama bags. You get to choose between walking the trails and leading your Llama with you or riding the Llama in the Oregon wilderness. When else over the course of your life will you be able to say that you’ve gone llama riding? With all the options of great vacations, and you are an eyeglass user remember to carry along some polarized clip on sunglasses.

Adventure travels do not have to be expensive (though they can run on the high end sometimes). They do not have to be lengthy vacations. Some only last a single day! Why would you choose to sit around and feel bored and annoyed on your vacation when there are options available that will give you excitement and adventure? Because there are so many different kinds of adventure travels and vacations to take your hardest choice is going to be deciding what you want to do the most and where you want to do it! Let yourself have fun!
