Movie Review: Redacted

I just watched the sneak peek to Redacted on HDNET and needless to say, I am in utter awe. I have so much to say but am having trouble coming to my senses. It is almost as though I have shell shock from the eye opening experience.
Redacted movie

The movie feels like a first hand experience in Iraq. Most of the movie is filmed as though you are looking through the camera of a soldier named Angel Salazar. His ambition to film his experience is described as a need to get into film school when he gets out of the army. Details such as this make the movie feel as though it is actual footage of the war.

Redacted does an unbelievably good job telling the story of the United States soldier. The movie delves into each soldier’s personal life to let you know what it might feel like if it were you or someone you knew over there. However, each character seems to fit a certain type of profile you might see in a war movie. You have the: hero, geek/nerd, idiot, and of course the psycho/insane characters.

Whether or not you have a weak stomach, you have to watch this movie. Before I had watched the movie, my feelings about the US presence in Iraq was dull in comparison to what I feel now. Each graphic scene acts as an eye opening vision as to what the Middle-East is becoming. The director was really trying to strike a nerve when he made this movie- needless to say, he succeeded.
