So I went to the rally on Saturday and it was amazing. I stood in line for 3-4 hours, but it was worth it. My only regret is that I wish I would have sold some apparel. There were nearly 8000 people there and I bet I could have sold at least 100 buttons for $3-$5 a piece. Well, anyways I setup a website as sort of an experiment with local advertising. ObamainMissoula.com - it has some affiliate advertising and also some T-shirts from cafepress. It has only been active for a few days, but I will be sure to update this blog with anything interesting I come across. Be sure to check out my Crowd Surfing Baby Video
I was looking around at Digital Point Forums and found a nice list of social bookmarking sites. After reading through the posts, I noticed that a lot of people are hesitant about even beginning the process of bookmarking an article with every site. You know, I really can’t blame some people for not wanting to sift through and register with each social bookmarking site, but you have to start somewhere. You can’t just sit back and expect your articles to submit themselves.
Before you read through the list below, you might want to consider something a little more efficient. Yes. Of course you are going to have to take time to register for almost all of the sites listed on Socialmarker.com, but it will save you time in the long run. Socialmarker.com lets you submit to 28 of the top social bookmarking sites, but does require a little effort. First you fill in all of the general information, as you would on any social bookmarking site, and then you submit through 1-28 of the sites. The interface is actually very nice because the site has a frame at the top which lets you click back or next while showing you your progress through the 28 sites. Here are the sites which Socialmarker.com will submit to:
Have you ever heard of the Mystery Topic Challenge?
You can read the official description here Mystery Topic Challenge Description.
But the Mystery Topic Challenge is basically a challenge between bloggers. The challenges are topic oriented and seem to run once a month. Participants are given 5 days to write about a topic chosen by the previous winner. On the fifth day polling will begin on the entries and will stay open for another five days.
How does this apply to new bloggers?
Are you running short on ideas or trying to find something new to write about? Well here is way to blog about something on a regular basis.
The challenge even offers something to those looking for a sense of community on the internet. I have always believed that the best type of community on the net is that which requires creative input from every user.
With this initiative every month, it will not be difficult to drum up other topics in the off time.
Today I submitted an older post titled Battling a Troll to BloggingZoom.com.So far the post has received about 80 hits alone and is also spilling off a little traffic to other articles.Initially the post generated a little traffic through BloggingZoom, but once it hit StumbleUpon, everything exploded. The post was originally submitted on 07/24/2007 and also did very well back then.So it goes to show you than you can always re-introduce your old popular posts to generate traffic. This is contrary to my old habit of submitting a post only once upon its release and leaving it at that.
