Brainstorm Session

by thought on July 10, 2007

My brother and I were brainstorming like crazy yesterday.  We came up with a few good ideas and one really great idea.  Even though I can’t divulge to much right now, I would like to cover the process as the project becomes reality.

We actually weren’t planning on making anything when we first sat down.  The conversation just started about creating traffic on the internet.  As ideas began to take shape, I jotted down a few that sounded interesting.  I think it is very important to do this because otherwise your mind will try to juggle new and existing ideas while also trying to brainstorm. So save yourself some time and carry around a notebook or pen and paper.

It must be that your mind has to warm up to certain concepts because as I filled a page with ideas, one of them at the bottom was amazing.  I turned the page and decided I would devote a blank page to furthering this idea a bit more.

From this point on, we basically thought out all of the functionality and interworkings to the system.  Things such as:

  • What resources do we need?
  • Do we already have the tools to make this work?

    • What will we have to learn?
  • How much time will it take to create?
  •   How much time is involved in each individual process we’ve listed so far?

  • About how much will this cost?
  •  This is where research plays a big role.

    • What will we have to invest in the project?

Even though we had a million more questions and answers, I think the above were the most important.  Instead of just jumping into the project the above process allows us to get an understanding of what we can do step by step to see results.
