My thoughts

I recently received some comment spam. As you can see it contains more than one link which automatically makes it stay in moderation (Wordpress default setting). But this comment makes me wonder what this type of person is thinking as they send out this type of spam.

Luckily Wordpess keeps track of the commentator’s IP address. A little search reveals that the spammer IP is from a place called, Oman. English of course is the second language, which explains why it is a little hard to understand the comment. So even though most us don’t bother and might immediately place all spammers into a category, I see them as people who are just don’t know what they are doing. For example, this person didn’t do their research about the link moderation. It is easier to consider spammers as faceless beings whose only intent is to spread garbage all over the web. But then again these are actual people doing this. So maybe this person just needs a little guidance in order to figure out how to reach visitors a little better.

And don’t visit the urls above. They are not hyper links for a reason…

The Art of Worldly Wisdom: Another’s Bad Luck

Published by thought under Personal Development

Never die of another’s bad luck. Notice those who stick in the mud, and observe how they call others to their aid so as to console themselves with a companion in misfortune. They seek someone to help them to bear misfortune, and often those who turned the cold shoulder on them in prosperity now give them a helping hand. There is a great caution needed in helping the drowning without endangering oneself.

Do you have those people around you who are continually bringing everyone down? Well I can tell you from personal experience that these people should be avoided. When someone is in a bad mood, they spread it. Even if it is not conscious, people in bad moods spread the mood to everyone they come across.
I’m not telling you to turn your back on your friends when they are down, but just be weary of those people who are always in a bad mood. There is a big difference between people in need and those who want sympathy.

An excerpt from The Art of Worldly Wisdom. I always keep this little book around because every time I open it I get a small piece of enlightenment about life.

Communicating with Different Visitors

Published by thought under Communication

Tonight I was looking over my visitor locations and realized I had forgotten something crucial. Multi-lingual support. So I arrived at - SapphireKnight. He has very nice list of Wordpress Plugins he uses with descriptions. It saved me a lot of time. As for the language support, a plugin at nothing2hide.net.

**update**
Dan raised a valid concern about this plugin. Without being able to correctly translate from english to another language and also keep the same meaning, translating is somewhat pointless.

How to Make People Agree

Published by thought under Advertising, Business, Communication

Awhile back I wrote an article titled How to Communicate with Customers. It was basically a quick look at building rapport with people (specifically customers.) But lately I have noticed a lot of people around me using a common technique to get people to easily agree with whatever they are saying. The strange thing is that these people don’t know this a Conversational Hypnosis technique.

YES SET
A “Yes Set” is getting someone to agree with you. The phrase is usually stated as a rhetorical question to get a YES answer. You have probably used one at least once in your life but may not have even noticed you did so.
The phrase is very easy to state to anyone not expecting it. For example say something such as, “You really don’t like this coat… Do you?” The person has to agree with you on some level before they consciously disagree. So if you line a few of these questions up throughout a conversation, you will notice it is easier to get a YES response from the subject.

It still amazes me how well this works even though it seems so obvious. Sometimes if the person is paying attention they will catch onto what you are doing. But it is all about practice. Once you do it enough you won’t even actively know you are doing it. After awhile it just becomes your response to wanting someone to agree with you.
I learned this technique in Conversational Hypnosis

Prisoner Thriller Dance

Prisoner Thriller Dance
This video is amazing.  Prisoners doing choreographed dancing.  Right when I heard about it I thought of a business idea.  Music videos using prisoners instead of paid backup dancers…  Also make sure you look for the woman in the beginning… she is super hot!
